Can we flash back a bit? I feel like sharing some of my story to you.
When I was in my first trimester pregnancy. I barely get up of the bed, eat or just even drink water. It wasn’t really nice. My nose became super really sensitive, very low blood pressure, and all day sick (not morning sick). Almost everyday during that time I only eat apples with sweet soy sauce and chilli. I know its weird. But I was pregnant :p
Good things from that moment are, I lost weight almost 10 kg in less than 2 months. My husband showed his cooking skill (this beef was also his favourite menu that time, because its super easy), and last but not least BABY!! 🙂
So, there you go. This menu always bring back that memory every time I cook this. But don’t ask about my husband cooking skill these days.. Ehm… because he never cooked anymore since then except 1 thing and I’m not gonna mention what food. I’ll save it fro next time 🙂
Back to the food. As I said before, this is super really easy menu. And you should try this sometime 🙂
500 grams thinly sliced beef (shoulder)
1 medium size onion
3 cloves of garlic
1 tsp ground coriander
salt and pepper
And the main ingredient here is this thing
Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), you can get this in Asian shop. If you can’t find this brand its fine. There are some other brands out there. Just ask for sweet soy sauce 🙂
– Saute onion and garlic in a hot pan with 1 tbsp oil.
– Add beef. When the colour is changing, you can add around 6 to 8 tbsp sweet soy sauce. Let it cook for around 8 to 10 minutes.
– Add coriander, salt and pepper to taste.
– Serve hot with warm jasmine rice!
note: If soy sauce is way too sweet for you, of course you can reduce it a bit. Everything back to your own personal taste 🙂
