Lontong (Rice Cake)

As I promised in my previous post, I’ll share with you how to make rice cake or lontong. This is a good way if you want to eat rice but in different shape. You can even shape it with cookie cutter to make it looks nicer for you children.

Here, I used special plastic bag. But you can also use aluminium foil or banana leaf.

First thing you need to clean the rice and then fill the plastic bag with rice, a little bit more than half of the bag size.

Repeat the process to the other bags.

Make holes in the bag, can do it with knife or fork. So the rice inside will get some water too.
In a big pot with cold water in it, you can put all the rice bags i it. And boil around 2 to 3 hours. And make sure you check it every 15 to 20 minutes, because you need to refill the water.

You need to cool it down first before you can serve it or cut it.

As for aluminium foil and banana leaf. It’s a bit different way.

First you need to cook rice like usual. Then take foil or leaf, and you can wrapped some rice in it. Then boil for 2 or 3 hours. You’ll get the same result, but in a different way 🙂

      3 bulan lagi loh lebarannya, tapi sebelum itu puasa 19 jam dulu yak kita (horeeeeeeee) 😛
